Developing Leaders

Want to know who learns the most at summer camp? It’s our summer staff! Every year Quest has a variety of employment and volunteer opportunities available in order to run our facilities and summer programming. This is a great way to learn new skills, while having fun and making a difference in the lives of kids!

Summer Staff Opportunities

This is in part made possible through support from the Government of Canada's Summer Job Grants, our partnered churches, and the amazing support of our Quest Community. Job opportunities for 2024 will depend on the CSJ grants. There will be service opportunities for 3-8 week time periods. More information will be coming soon and application process will begin February.

The Quest LIT program

Participating in  the Quests summer camp leader-in-training (LIT) program is a rewarding and transformative experience. Our program is designed to prepare young individuals to take on leadership roles within the context of a Christian camp setting. It is geared for youth ages 15++ and is a great stepping stone to develop youth who may eventually be cabin leaders.
You can sign up for 1-3 weeks in a summer. Space is limited.
Here is what you can look forward to experiencing:

Spiritual Development:

  • Engage actively in the spiritual aspects of the program, seeking personal growth and a deeper understanding of Christian principles.

  • Expect a strong emphasis on spiritual growth. This will include Bible studies, devotional times, and opportunities for prayer and reflection.

Leadership Training:

  • Participate in sessions that focus on specific camp-related tasks and responsibilities.

  • Learn practical leadership skills, such as communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and decision-making.

Camp Operations:

  • Gain insights into the daily operations of a Christian camp, including logistics, safety procedures, and program planning.

  • Learn about the specific mission and values of the camp, as well as how to implement them in a leadership role.

Relationship Building:

  • Develop strong relationships with fellow participants, camp staff, and mentors.

  • Understand the importance of creating a positive community within the camp environment.

Service and Responsibility:

  • Embrace opportunities for service and demonstrate a sense of responsibility.

  • Participate in practical tasks and service projects that contribute to the overall well-being of the camp community.

Communication Skills:

  • Hone your communication skills, both in one-on-one interactions and in group settings.

  • Learn effective ways to convey Christian values and teachings to campers.

Role Modeling:

  • Recognize the significance of being a role model for younger campers.

  • Demonstrate qualities such as kindness, integrity, and a strong work ethic.

Feedback and Evaluation:

  • Be open to receiving feedback from mentors and camp leaders.

  • Use evaluations as opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Fun and Fellowship:

  • Enjoy the experience! Camps are meant to be fun and filled with fellowship. Embrace the joy of building connections and creating lasting memories.

Note: This program is designed to increase the employability of the participants, as well as prepare them to be leaders who can recognize the worth and potential that God has created in the campers we serve. As such, LIT is not a program interested teens register for, but rather one they apply into. Upon review of a successful application, the applicants will receive an acceptance letter

Former Staff:

“I had the privilege of working at The Quest Bible camp, involved in roles such as lifeguard, general maintenance, groundskeeper, archery instructor, serve staff, cabin leader and so much more. This experience allowed me to contribute to a nurturing environment for personal and spiritual growth. Whether ensuring campers' safety, maintaining the beautiful grounds, or instructing archery, each role added a unique layer to the camp's success. Beyond the tasks, the shared values fostered deep camaraderie, and I formed lasting friendships with fellow staff members. The joy of guiding others and the connections made underscored the camp's mission of harmonizing faith, community, and personal growth. I am grateful for the memories and the collective positive impact it had on me. It was not just a job for me but a journey filled with friendship and a shared purpose.”

Nolan Hay

“I was seven years old the first time I came to the Quest. My parents were worried that I would be homesick, but the only time I cried that week was when I had to leave. Coming to camp became the highlight of my summer for the next 12 years, and I began to refer to it as “my second home.” This place has brought me an immense amount of joy, some of my closest friends, a deeper love for God & His word, and a million memories! As a young camper, I learned what it truly meant to have a personal relationship with the LORD. I admired the leaders who guided me, encouraged me, and prayed for me. As I got older, I became more involved in the camp, and learned how to serve joyfully and lead intentionally. I was able to become a leader to the younger generation in the way that others had been for me. The Quest was incredibly impactful in my life and has played a significant role in making me into the person I am today. I am so thankful for the Quest!!!”

“I first came to the Quest when I was 9 years old. I was unsure of what it would be like at the time, but I had an amazing week. I came back the next summer and for the next decade! Those next 10 summers as a camper, and eventually full-time staff member, were life changing. It was at the Quest where I committed my life to following God and I grew immensely in my faith over the years. The Quest has taught me to be bold in my faith, and going through MDT and Serve Staff gave me a deeper love for serving and camp ministry. I consider the Quest my second home and it has given me a lifetime of memories I will forever cherish. A majority of my closest friendships are a result of this place, and without it I would not be the person that I am today. I spend lots of time reminiscing on all the incredible worship nights, dance parties, wide games, campfires and pulling hundreds of kids and adults behind the skiboat over the years. Most importantly, I remember fondly the dozens of baptisms I’ve witnessed in the lake, and all the kids I have seen who have given their lives to Christ through God’s work at the camp. I am extremely thankful for the Quest, and I look forward to seeing the impact it will continue to have on future generations.”
